Deputies working out of the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station patrol the area around Mountasia. When someone is arrested, they are taken to the sheriff station to undergo booking and processing, after which bail will be set and it will be possible to obtain their release via bail bond.

The on-site jail is designed only for the temporary housing of about 40 inmates. If the jail becomes overcrowded, or if an inmate remains at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station Jail for more than 72-hours, it is likely that they will be transferred to one of the larger jails in downtown Los Angeles. Men are transferred to Twin Towers Correctional Facility while females are sent to the Lynwood Jail. These larger jails are much busier, and upon transfer, an inmate can expect to spend at least an additional 12 to 24-hours in custody as they are processed in at the new facility.

If the bail bond process has begun while the inmate is still located at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station, it is possible to avoid transfer altogether.

How to Begin the Bail Bond Process

The bail bond process isn’t all that complicated, and like most things it all begins with a phone call. We will need you to provide us with some general information about the inmate which we will use to locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail. Once that has been established, we have you fill out the short, simple, bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Last, we dispatch an agent to the jail and your friend or loved one will be released a short time later.

Arrests usually come as a surprise, and we realize that not everyone is going to be immediately available to meet with us to fill out the paperwork. As such, we are fully-equipped to handle the entire bail bond application process via phone, fax or email.

What is an indemnitor?

The inemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. When someone is bailed out of jail, they still need to return to court at the appointed date and time. If they do so, the bond is exonerated and everything is fine. When they do not, it is the person who signs the bail bond that will be held financially responsible for paying the full amount of bail to the court. That being said, it is advisable to only bail out those whom you know and trust.
