The area in and around TPC Santa Clarita is patrolled by deputies working out of the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station. When arrested, individuals will be immediately transferred to the sheriff station where they will undergo booking and processing. Once that process is complete, bail will be set and it will be possible to obtain their release via bail bond or one of the other options for release.
If the on-site jail at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station becomes overcrowded, or an individual remains there for 72-hours, it is likely that he or she will be transferred to one of the larger long-term holding facilities in downtown Los Angeles. Men are sent to Twin Towers and women will be transferred to the Lynwood Jail. Upon transfer, inmates can expect to spend at least another 12 to 24-hours in custody as they go through additional processing at the new facility. Starting the bail bond process while an individual is still located at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station can often avoid the transfer process altogether.
Options for Release
When someone is arrested, obtaining a bail bond isn’t the only way to get them out of jail. There are actually several options for release that an individual may be eligible for if they meet the qualifying criteria:
- Cash Bonds – A cash bond is when the full amount of bail is paid to the court clerk in order to get someone out of jail. The money can only be paid during court business hours and, provided the defendant meets all of their court obligations after being released, the money will be refunded to the person who paid it (minus any relevant court fees). If the defendant does not show up for court, the full amount of bail is forfeit.
- Property Bonds – This is when a piece of property is put forth in lieu of bail money. The individual who owns the property must own equity in it totaling at least 150% of the total bail amount in order for the property to qualify. The courts are very thorough in their appraisal, and property bonds can often take weeks (if not longer) to be approved before an individual is released.
- Own Recognizance – Also referred to as “O.R.” being released on one’s own recognizance requires that the defendant provide a written promise to return to court at the appointed date(s) and time(s).
- Citation Release – A citation release will typically only occur in cases where someone is charged with a minor infraction or traffic violation. Citation releases are similar to “O.R.” releases with the exception that the defendant does not need to provide a written promise to return to court when they are cited out.

Despite there being several options for release, bail bonds remain far and away the most common way to get someone out of jail for a number of reasons:
- Time – Bail bonds can be posted 24-hours a day, 7-days a week at most jails. Unlike property bonds and cash bonds which must take place during court business hours (usually M-F from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm).
- Cost – The cost of a bail bond is only 10% of the total bail amount, so if bail is set at $15,000, the cost to bail them out will be only $1,500. To bail someone out via cash bond, it will cost the full $15,000.
- Expertise – When you work with us, all that we require from you is that you sign some paperwork and pay for the bail bond.
