Newhall is overseen by deputies working out of the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station. After being taken into custody, arrestees are immediately transported to the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station to undergo booking and processing. Once this procedure has been completed, bail will be set or the arrestee will be granted another of several options for release.
If the arrestee is not bailed out after 72-hours, or if the on-site jail becomes overcrowded, male inmates will likely be transferred to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility and female inmates will be sent to CRDF – a.k.a. the Lynwood Jail. Once transferred, it will be impossible to bail the inmate out until they have been processed in at their new location; a procedure that can take up to 24-hours.
If the bail bond process is begun while the inmate is still located at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station jail, it is possible to avoid the transfer process altogether. If your goal is to avoid transfer, speed is key. Our office is located right across the street from the jail and we can have a bail agent at the sheriff station within minutes.
Options for Release from Jail
When someone is arrested, it’s possible to be granted one of several forms of release, depending in the circumstances surrounding their arrest.
- Cash Bonds – Once bail is set, an individual can pay the full amount of bail to the court clerk in order to secure an inmate’s release. This is one of the more straightforward options, and it’s also very expensive.
- Property Bonds – When cash isn’t available, a piece of property can be put up in lieu of money to get someone out of jail. Equity must be owned in the property totaling at least 150% of the bail amount, and the courts will be very thorough in their appraisal. As such, property bonds can take weeks to go through and are often the least efficient way to get someone out of custody.
- O.R. – or own recognizance, is when a judge releases an individual from custody and requiring that the individual provides a written promise to return at the appointed date and time.
- Citation Release – Being “cited out,” is usually reserved for minor infractions and traffic-related offenses. It’s similar to being released on O.R., but no written promise is required.
Why Use a Santa Clarita Bail Bondsman?
With so many other options for release from jail, why are bail bonds so popular? It’s because working with a local bail bondsman is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to get someone out of custody. The cost of a bail bond is only 10% of the total bail amount, which means you won’t need tens of thousands of dollars like you would with a cash bond.
When you work with us, we do all of the footwork for you. As mentioned before, our office is located right across the street from the jail right here in Santa Clarita, and we can meet you at our office, your home or office, the jail, or over the internet! We’re equipped to handle the bail bond process from start to finish via phone, fax or email.
The Bail Bond Process
Obtaining a bail bond isn’t difficult. It starts by giving us a call and providing some general information about the person you want to bail out of jail. It can help to have their full name, birth date and the date and time of arrest handy before you call, but even if not all the information is readily available, we can still help you out.
We use the information you provide to locate the inmate within the jail system and verify their eligibility for bail. Then, we have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Last, we provide you with a receipt and dispatch one of our agents to the jail to post the bond. Your friend or loved one will be released a short time later.
Payment Options
Paying for a bail bond has never been simpler. While most of our clients choose to pay via major credit/debit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express or Discover), we also accept cash, business and personal checks, money orders, bank account transfers and money wire.
If you’re interested in financing – let us know! We have a variety of flexible payment plans that can be paid weekly or monthly and are designed to fit most any budget. We never include additional fees, charges or interest in the cost of your bail bond.
