When someone is arrested in or around the community of Lake Hughes, they will be taken to the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station where they will undergo the booking and processing procedure. Depending on how busy the station is, the process can take anywhere from 45-minutes to 4-hours. Only after booking and processing has been completed will bail be set and the inmate eligible for release via bail bond.

The on-site jail at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station is small, and only designed for the temporary housing of about 40 inmates. So, if the jail starts to get overcrowded, or if an inmate remains at the jail for longer than 72-hours, it is likely that they will be transferred to one of the larger jails in downtown Los Angeles. Men are transferred to Twin Towers Correctional Facility while women are transferred to the Lynwood Jail. When transferred, an additional 12 to 24-hours will be added to their time in custody as the inmate awaits being processed in at the new, larger, busier jail facility. When the bail bond process is begun while they are still located at the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station, transfer can usually be avoided altogether.

Booking and Processing

Booking and processing is the procedure in which an inmate has their photograph taken, fingerprints recorded and a national background check is conducted. It is only after booking and processing has been completed that bail is set, and inmates cannot be released beforehand. However, calling to get the bail bond process started immediately after their arrest can still help expedite the process and get your friend or loved one out of custody as fast as possible.

Bailing Someone Out

To bail someone out of jail, all we need you to do is call and provide us with their name, birth date and the date and time of arrest (if available) so we can locate him or her within the system and verify their eligibility for bail. Once that’s been established, we have you fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign the indemnitor’s agreement. Last, we send someone to the jail to post the bond and your friend or loved one will be released shortly thereafter.

If you can’t get to us to fill out the forms, or are simply more comfortable handling the process from your home or office, we are more than happy to complete the entire bail bond process via phone, fax or email. What works best for you will always work best for us.

What is an Indemnitor?

The indemnitor is the person who signs the bail bond. Basically, when you bail someone out of jail, they still have to show up for all of their court obligations. When you sign a bail bond, you agree to take on financial responsibility if that person fails to show up for court. If they do show up, the bond is exonerated and there is no further financial obligation on your part. If they do not show up, it is the signer of the bail bond who will be held financially responsible for paying the full amount of bail to the courts. That being said, it’s always best to only bail out those whom you know and trust.
