Can You Bail Yourself Out?

When someone is arrested and taken into custody, getting out is usually their first priority. One of the fastest ways to do that is with a bail bond.

A bail bond, or surety bond, is an inexpensive alternative to paying the full amount of bail in order to obtain one’s release from jail. Arrestees frequently rely on family and friends to bail them out via bail bond, but the arrestee can do it themselves if they meet certain requirements (such as not being deemed a danger to the community if released, and not being arrested on a charge that carries a “mandatory hold”) and have the available funds.

The bail bond application process is quite simple. It starts by giving us a call and providing some identifying information so we can verify the arrestee’s (or in this case your) eligibility for bail. Once that has been established we’ll need you to fill out the short, simple bail bond application forms and sign them. We will then post the bond at the jail and you will be released once you can be processed out.

Bailing oneself out from jail can be a complicated process considering the limits on an inmate’s ability to move freely and use the phone. However, it can be done. You’re not out of luck if nobody is around to bail you out, or if your family and friends are unable to obtain the funds.

We are always available to help if you have questions or concerns about bail, or if you need to get the bail bond process started right away. We are always available to take your call – even on nights, weekends, and major holidays. We can post bail at these times, too, so you needn’t worry about spending more time in jail than you have to.
