Santa Clarita Bail Bonds: 4th Annual Purple Walk of Strength Held in Santa Clarita

Domestic Violence Awareness MonthOctober is domestic violence awareness month, and purple is the color associated with domestic violence, so it seems fitting that the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita would hold their 4th Annual Purple Walk of Strength this month. Over 200 purple-clad people showed up to walk or run a 5k course at College of the Canyons to raise money for the center and raise awareness about domestic violence.

The Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita sees over 1,500 people a year, including men, women and children. Statistics state that 1 in 33 men and 1 in 4 women will be the victim of domestic violence in their lifetimes. According to Captain Roosevelt Johnson of the SCV Sheriff Station: “Domestic violence is a significant issue. If you hear something or know someone that is a victim of domestic violence, do your part in reporting that so that we can prevent tragedies from happening in our community.” In the past year there have been at least 7 homicides in the past year in Santa Clarita that were related to domestic violence.

All funds raised at the 4th Annual Purple Walk of Strength will go directly to the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita.
